OPEN EDUCATION RESOURCES (OER)
What is OER?
Open educational resources (OER) are any resources available at little or no cost that can be used for teaching, learning, or research. The term can include textbooks, course readings, and other learning content, virtually any other material that can be used for educational purposes.
OER typically refers to electronic resources, such as materials generally released under a Creative Commons or similar license that supports open or nearly open use of the content. OER originates from colleges and universities, libraries, archival organizations, government agencies, commercial organizations such as publishers, or faculty or other individuals who develop educational materials they are willing to share.
Why OER?
OER materials are available to students on day 1 of class, enhancing a student’s learning experience and reducing textbook costs. Instructors can determine their own revision schedule and customize the content to fit their class.
How Montezuma Publishing Can Help?
Are you using OER or curious about doing so? Montezuma Publishing can help in a big way. We can access the material for you and help organize it to perfectly fit your needs. Simply provide a link to materials selected. Let us know which chapters/pages you wish to use and in what order. We will create a FREE PDF design per your specification that you can upload to Blackboard.
If your students are more comfortable with a print book, we have that covered too! Simply inform your students to visit the Book Information in the bookstore to order the print-on-demand book. If ordered on a Monday morning, for example, a P.O.D. reader is ready for pick-up or shipping within 24 hours.
We can turn materials into an interactive digital reader, powered by RedShelf, whereby students can click on a word and see an instant definition; click on a topic for an instant Google search; take notes; as well as highlight and mark texts for tests and quizzes.
