Without-Risk Deadline
Submitting your thesis to Montezuma Publishing (MP) by this deadline guarantees that MP will review your thesis and return it to you for corrections, if necessary, at least one week prior to the Completion deadline. Theses that are resubmitted for review will be given priority status but still require a full review.
Completion Deadline
Your thesis must be approved, by the noon deadline, with all fees paid for publishing the library, microfiche, and any required department copies in order to graduate during the current semester.
Last Day to Submit Theses without Re-Enrolling
If you submit your thesis by this deadline, you will not have to re-enroll in Thesis 799 for the following semester, but you must re-apply for graduation. Exception: If a majority of the formatting requirements as specified in the SDSU Dissertation & Thesis Manual and department style guide (including source documentation) have not been followed, your thesis will be rejected.
If you have any questions regarding the reviewing criteria, refer to this link. This is the actual checklist used during the review process. If any area is marked (indicating an error), the thesis will be returned to the student for corrections.
Dissertation and Thesis Review
MP Thesis Department examines all Plan A Master's Theses and Projects, as well as all applicable Doctoral Dissertations, to ensure conformity with university and department requirements. The regulations can be found in the SDSU Dissertation & Thesis Manual (DTM), reference and style manuals, and instructional material approved by the faculty for the individual degree programs. This formal review occurs after the members of the faculty committee have signed the Dissertation/Thesis signature page indicating their approval of content.
For those SDSU Doctoral Programs that are administered jointly with a cooperating institution, the format of dissertations will be governed either by SDSU regulations or by those of the cooperating institution as determined in the contract between the two institutions. Please visit the Graduate Division website for more information on Dissertation Contacts .
Doctoral Dissertations for students enrolled in the standalone SDSU College of Education Doctoral Program (Ed.D) in Education Leadership will format their dissertations according to the current department requirement of APA 6th edition guidelines. Since these guidelines vary from the SDSU guidelines, these students will not use the SDSU DTM or the MS Word template found on this website for the preparation of their dissertations.
